Meet the Golden Mom (Cherry)
Intro to Golden Retriever Mom (Cherry)
This is Cherry. She's a purebred Red Golden Retriever we purchased in 2021 as a family pet. We purchased her from a golden retriever dog breeder near Milk River (close to the U.S./Alberta, Canada border).
How Old is Cherry (Mom Golden Retriever)
- 2 1/2 years.
Cherry was a pup when we got her (8 weeks old) right around Christmas, 2021. She would've been born October, 2021.
How Much Does Cherry Weigh?
- 61 lbs
Cherry is currently 61 lbs. Both our dogs are slender, they get plenty of exercise on our acreage playing fetch and running around. We typically keep them in the Dog Run, which has more room to run around than most town lots would have.
What is Cherry's Temperament Like?
- Playful
- Loves to run around
- Loves children
- Curious when around other (non-dog) animals
Cherry is energetic and friendly. She is much more curious about other animals than Dozer (our male dog). For example, she loves rounding up the chickens when they get out of the pen. She will hold them down without killing them until I get to her, but I wouldn't want to leave her alone with poultry unsupervised at this point.
Is Cherry (Mother Golden Retriever) Trained for Hunting?
- Not trained for hunting
As most Golden Retrievers, she's a natural sporting dog, meaning she gets very excited about birds, ducks, and geese. she is a little gun-shy as I have used the gun around her a time or two. I don't hunt so she has never been trained as a hunting dog.
How Many Litters Has Cherry Had So Far?
- 1 (11 puppies)
Cherry has had one little as of now. She delivered 11 beautiful golden retriever puppies. Unfortunately one came out underdeveloped and was dead at birth. Sadly Cherry fell asleep on one female pup the first night after the puppies were born. The 9 that survived are healthy and growing.
